If you have never noticed before, every classroom (Preschool, PreK, Daycare, ELC, etc) has at least one learning carpet in it. The reason, it is the focal point of the whole classroom. Its location is always by the teachers area. Its the place where you sing songs, do circle time ( that’s another post) and start your day.
When I was working for the school district, my circle time area was at the front of the classroom, usually by the whiteboard (chalkboard/blackboard, yes i know my terms) and the kids would be involved in the daily calendar. Now in modern days, if the school can afford it, its by the smartboard.
The Carpets/ Rugs for the longest time, were the most expensive thing in the classroom. Running at about 300 or more for each. Now most living room rugs can run about the same, but this is extravagant. The one on the top right in the pictures, that is sold by my local teaching supplies store, is about 500. I was not going to buy such a rug for my living room for my two kids. I wanted something colorful, educational, and fun, but not that would cost me more than 100.
Amazon was the answer and a company called KC Cubs. The carpet that I bought ( top Left) 5 x 6 feet, had all the pieces i wanted and all for 54.00. WHAT!!!!!!! Yes that is correct. 54.00. I was skeptical at first, but I bought it and sure enough, its a great little rug.
This will take you to their home page on amazon. I will keep you posted on how it holds up for the entire year, but I am very excited to use it. I have already made a promise to myself that once we get a house, I want to get two more for the playroom/classroom.
Good Luck!!!!!
