Hello and welcome to my blog. My name is Lauren and I am officially calling myself the TAWL Homeschool Mom. For those who can’t guess what TAWL stands for, here is the answer. (Target, Amazon, Walmart, and finally Lakeshore)
All of these places have become my safe haven during this hard time with Covid-19. Especially since my husband and I decided to take our kids out of the local Public School District and home school them. Now here is the easy part of that news to us, is that our children are 3 and 5. Our son who is 3 was supposed to start Preschool with an IEP with the school district. Our daughter who is 5 was supposed to start Kinder with an IEP as well.
Side note: What is an IEP : The Individualized Education Program. Child who need that little extra help in a classroom setting will get an individual lesson plan that they need.
So both my children were tested and were eligible for these services. However, we just aren’t ready to take that risk. Now it is up to me to take over their education for the 2020-2021 school year. I pray and hope it will all be over soon. So by next year, my kids will enter the school district safe and ready to learn.
In my blog I will talk about many subjects that have to do with Learning From Home. To the tools I use, the supplies I get ( and from where.) I know what you see in your children’s classroom maybe expensive getting it from the teaching supplies store, but there are cheaper products out there, and I will not break the bank to make our two bedroom two bath apt a classroom.
I might also though in the regular blog about what’s going on in our world too and comment my opinion on it. It might effect what is going on in my house or in our country.
I am undeclared when it comes to my political side, but here’s my personality, regardless of what people’s first impressions of me are. I am a good person and I believe in world peace and word equality. I want everyone to stop hurting each other and stop fighting of the dumbest things. I want to teach my kids to respect other and learn to love the world and to make it better. That is my beliefs.
So I will use many different resources at my disposal. I have chose a curriculum for my kiddos for the year, let’s hope it works. Plus I will buy any workbook or other tool I can find to add to the fun. Cuz that’s what school should be fun. N
I am trying to help not only myself, but the other stay at home moms/dads/ guardians that have to take on this new huge task. One we were never prepared to do. I am here to tell you, you can do it. If i can figure it out, you can too.
Wish me Luck,
Lauren
