CUBE Storage Furniture Hacks!

You can find these shelves at Target, Walmart, and IKEA!!!!!!

Don’t buy the expensive stuff from a catalogue. Stick with something easy that you can turn into normal storage after your done.

299.00 vs 69.00. UMMMM. Which would you choose. Duh. The retail price for the teaching supplies store shelf is 299.00. To think our school districts waste that kind of money on a shelf. All i had to do was go to IKEA and spend 69.00 for something that does exactly the same purpose. IKEA is the cheapest out of all three stores. Target and Walmart sell their 13×13 shelves for 80 bucks or more. They do have smaller shelves the 11×11’s that are cheaper as well, but 13×13 are bigger obviously and hold more.

IKEA shelves are also better for two reasons:

A. I have been wanting on, and B. It is the perfect shelf for anything and everything to do with children. I learned shortly after having my son that i needed to organize their toys. Toy boxes get messy, and just random boxes around the house doesn’t work either.

I have been organizing their toys by what they are into the CUBE storage bins ever since. I even found on AMAZON certain cube containers that have the theme of the toys already printed on it. Toy Story, Barbie, LOL Dolls, etc. So I kept it going by buying 3 cube storage shelves. One is a two tier and its their nightstand, another is a THRESHOLD ( which is at Target) for inside their closet to store the toys I will switch out from time to time during preschool weeks, and finally just a regular three tier small cube storage in their closet for the same reason. I have from time to time taken those shelves out of the closet to use as part of the pretend play center. As shown during beach week this past summer.

I used it again the following week for the Pretend Play Veterinarian Hospital theme. I forgot to take a picture, but i was going for the exact look that this picture i found online.

If you have a house or something bigger than my 2 bedroom 2 bath 1040 square foot apt, you will have plenty of space to spread out your storage. Me however, I have to use what I have got. So I got rid if the TV stand underneath my TV ( it was my grandmothers and it was falling apart anyways) and got the IKEA shelf for under the TV. From here I can switch out, as I said, the toys from inside the closet to out here to rotate the toys.

Once we get into a house sometime next year ( praying) I will put all their cube shelves and toys into the spare room and make it a play room/ official classroom. Just in case I have to keep homeschooling. I know it probably say this a lot but the Sky is the limit. Be creative with your stuff. Get organized.

SIDE NOTE: I know this is all scary for us all. We never thought in a million years this kind of thing would happen in our lifetime, but its here. We can only hope and pray that they find the vaccine and distribute it soon. If not in the next year, than we have to push on through together and do what is best for our children. The school districts should be the safest place for our children but it has become a breeding ground for this new virus. I have faith in their cleaning, but you can’t stop it from getting in somehow. Homeschooling is the best option for everyone right now. So breath, you can do this.

Good Luck!!!!
