I have a lot of friends who I have met over the years from different things. Best friend from childhood, friend of a friend, people I met when Livi was in a preschool class at 3 years old. I have kept in touch with most of them over the years.
During the beginning of covid when digital learning was new, class meetings were kept small for kiddos just to talk to their teacher and make sure they were okay. Course that is how it was for us.
Now this new year is upon us and so many school districts are doing it differently. As far as starting in person goes preschools have already begun and they are doing well so far.
Kinder through 12th most have started and started digital. Waiting for the government to decide if school will start on the 17th or not.
A couple of my friends have said that the online experience so far isn’t what it’s cracked up to be. It’s not working right or it’s too stressful.
One even said, “It just sucks, I’m ready to send her back. This isn’t effective at all. I’m not doing this all year, Bless the teachers and schools for trying but it’s not working for me. If they continue like this I’ll just homeschool for a year til they go back.”
Another parent/ friend says “So far a rollercoaster ride. We have had more good days then bad. Trying to get in a routine and making sure everyone is on their calls when they need to be is about as crazy as it gets but the teachers have been super understanding.”
So some school districts and the schools within them are doing it pretty well. Others are having it hard .
One of my friends Kinder is only on the screen for 30 min a day. Which isn’t bad, I have to say. Livi could have done that, but who knows
Maybe it’s too soon to tell, but already one of my friends has said that if they rule that digital learning will be year around or for longer than this month, she’ll home school her kids.
One even will have to go down to Part Part time to stay home with her kiddo to help her with her learning.
I guess it’s just the beginning . I’ll keep you posted
