My daughter is five years old and she’s got a very good imagination. She has the best pretend play skills which is one of her strengths on her IEP‘s when she goes to school. My son has followed suit he loves to pretend play just as much as a sister does, Will that make him gay in the future I don’t think so but if he is I will love him no matter what.
The thing is there’s no pretend play stuff for boys out there in the universe there’s regular pretend play thing by pretend play kitchen pretend play food and even pretend play keys and suffix for boys.
There’s a company that makes the best line of pretend play stuff for girls it’s Jakks Pacific company. TheyAre the company that makes the Black & Decker pretend play stuff for boys and a few other toys that you see lurking around target and Walmart. But the best stuff that I found is literally their Disney princess style line. No it’s OK if boys like princesses I am not against that but when it comes to my children anything in pink ( which all the princess stuff is covered in) is my daughters, and anything in blue is my sons.
No they do share their toys but my daughter has put a claim on most of her Disney princess style stuff and so I had to come up with my own creative idea to match some of the stuff that she has because……..
The Jakks company won’t make anything for boys to match the girls stuff. I even have sent them emails with ideas and they have kept sending back nice emails about sending my ideas off to “where it needs to go,” but then nothing after.
Now I know how the you industry world works, having worked for one for 4 years. I know it takes time, but if you already have the molds for one kind of toy, you can redo a simple piece of the mold and turn it into something else.
If you get a chance go on Netflix and click on the show all the toys that made us. You will see that many companies over the years have used their action figure toys to make both Star Wars characters and super hero’s.
So why can they take the molds from the following items and just change the color to blue, green, or even black. And change the theme from Disney Princess to Disney Princes or Disney a hero’s . They had those toys at one time.
For some of these toys, it shoes be easy. Now the gender kind of stuff, like the make up vanity’s or the purse, etc. Change it to….. and yes I know I’d I say my idea someone will steal it, but I don’t have the money to start my own toy line, so as long as it gets made, properly ( not cheap) I’m fine with it……. a boys Valet case, a travel case, a brief case, etc.
Like I said I had to get creative at Christmas and make my own things for him to match his sisters stuff so i did.
I also got lucky that lakeshore had come out with a boys shaving kit at Christmas too.
Also found on amazon another mans kit, but very cheaply made. Not posting a picture of it cuz it didn’t last.
Plus a cell phone, and a set of pretend care keys.
So I hope this message goes out into the void to help someone at Jakks, or fisher price, or even Melissa and Doug. Boys need to pretend play this stuff too. A laptop ( just for the sound) , a travel suitcase, pretend camera, and my persona favorite that he would love, a boys valet that lights up.
I might be ranting, but it is bugging me. I have a son and three ( now four nephews), they need boy pretend play.
Extra note, who says tools aren’t just for boys. Make some pretend play tools for girls too.
