I don’t want to upset the balance but the Salt River, is so Beautiful right now. Covid has done wonders for it. Usually it’s contaminated with bottles, cans, too many people, and lots of trash. It’s crazy. I don’t know how the Tubing company hasn’t gone out of business wrecking a beautiful place.
I just figured out how beautiful when I went down for my birthday.
The wild horses of the Salt River. They are the most beautiful things I have seen in a long time. The last few free horses. The just come right into the water of the river and they don’t care you’re there.
Because there is no massive tubing drunken idiots on the river and just private kayaks and tubing owners they have an easier time getting into the river to drink.
This group on Facebook is trying to save them and keep them flourishing. I would totally friend them if you get the chance. The updates on the babies is so much fun to watch.
Anyways back to the river, it’s so much fun to go down on your own tubes, or kayaks. It’s so peaceful. We got a double tube at BIG FIVE, which is the last place that had any supplies left.
This raft is only 40.00 and it comes with a Cooler. Now highly recommend, bring a pump with you and gorilla tape. That way if it pops or gets loose you can blow it back up and patch it up to make it down the river. Our pump hole got loose and we lost air. But we were able to blow it up by mouth on a shallow part of the river and fix it.
Plus the middle pouch will get wet. So all of your belongings needs to be in a water proof bag, or container.
Other things you’ll need, is a water proof case for your phone. Lol. I used a plastic bag. It worked for most of the time. Lol. got cloudy and pictures weren’t great.
Don’t forget plenty of ice and water to drink. Plus a trash bag for all of your snacks and other adult drinks. Or if you with your kids, their stuff.
Now when we went down it was just me, my hubby, and my in laws. I invited my friends, but some were skeptical about how busy it would be even without the tube thing closed. lol it was okay. They can go next time. That includes my kids.
We want to take them down before the summer ends, we will take our set of tubes and my in laws they bought to match us. They will have their life vests on and I hope they will have fun. I know I did.
Last note. Because the bus is closed. you need to take two cars. Enough room to park on at the bottom and then take the other to the top to start. When you get done you all climb in the car at the bottom and then take the others to their car.
It’s funny. What takes two hours to tube only takes 5 minutes to drive. Lol.
