The third and final place we went a few times this summer during covid is Oak Creek. Famously known for slide rock of all places.

Course we decided to go up one day and there was no parking left it was cut off and it was so busy on the road all along Oakcreek Canyon it was unbelievable. As luck would have it though we found the perfect little spot to park.
Not saying where along the creek, but if you can figure it out by this picture, you are good.
At first when we got all of our stuff and cross the road which by the way you have to be very careful because it’s very busy with cars, we had to carry our kids by hand and all of our stuff. Which and it being totally worth it. We got to the edge and where we climb down wasn’t the best place at first. We slid down and almost broke our butts carrying the kids down, but once we got down to the creek it was amazing to be hold.
We got the kids in their bathing suit‘s and their swim floaty’s and decided to explore. We went up the creek another 50 or 60 feet when we came upon the most beautiful portion of the entire creek, a miniature slide rock area with red rock and a big giant portion of the river that was just so calm and peaceful that the kids and I loved swimming through it.
There was also fish and crawfish. We wished we brought nets to let the kids try to catch them. We like have put them back.
When we came out of the water we came upon a beautiful empty little tiny beach of sand and looked up and found an easier way to get down and up that was not far from the car. So the next time we went we would’ve known where to go. Now we went during the week when it wasn’t gonna be as busy, which I totally recommend because we went again on a weekend and met my cousins and it was a complete and utter disaster.
Don’t get me wrong we had a lot of fun in the end, but we couldn’t park at the same place and we end up parking somewhere ways away from our spot. We ended up was not very safe. There was 6 adults ( two almost 70 , my parents and one who was 5 months pregnant) and 3 kids under 6. We climbed down a path that was sanded, and tried to hike a little ways south to find a private area due to so any people, but where we ended was not as great as the first time. It was quiet and the kids played and caught fish. But my father fell three times and my mother twice. So needles to say, they won’t be going with us next time unless we can get a safer place, like the one we were at before.
We plan on going again during the week when my husband has a day off just to chill and relax and to enjoy the last day of the summer. You don’t need a pass to say and park at Oak Creek Canyon. So if you ever get a chance on a weekday not a weekend pack of the family and head to the Creek. early in the morning too. Like leave at 7 and get there at 830.
Have fun
