I would like to start off this blog, by saying thank you to all my visitors and followers. I may only have 8 right now, but only after 3 months blogging, I find that is a good accomplishment. Its not all about the likes and the comments. I just like seeing all the viewers out there reading and hope that I am making a difference in your at home covid lives.
I started this blog to be about being a TAWL mom at home, and it is. I still blog about the lesson plans, and how they are going. I just feel like I want to write other things too. My Teaching career may have looked depressing, but it had a happy ending. I made a difference in my students lives, and I met the love of my life and became a mom to two beautiful healthy children. I am not sorry or have any regrets in my life at this point.
I would like to write a reply blog or two about a comment or suggestion that is made. So if you have a question or comment about any ideas or lesson plans, feel free to message me. I would be happy to help. Especially with setting up your own little learning area.
OKAY LETS GET BACK TO IT. Now that we are home and everything is in its place, I want to get back to the lesson plans and the ideas at hand.
HEALTHY ME: A Lesson Plan based on teaching the kids about staying healthy, what to eat, going to the doctors office, xrays, etc. Especially those nasty shots that kids hate.
Healthy me was supposed to be last weeks lesson plan, and yet, a lot of things happened this past week that kept me from doing it every day. My daughter had a doctor apt of her very own, it was a holiday on Monday so my third student didn’t come due to us wanting a day vacation. But Doctor Office is one of the best themes out there, and also very important. So we are continuing it into this week.
Prekprintablefun has on the agenda Family and Home for this week, however I didn’t want to do that. If any of my followers bought the year membership with me, you are more than welcome to continue onto that theme, but I think Healthy Me is more fun.
So lets get started with my favorite part of lesson planning and teaching from home. The pretend play area. Now if you recall from my PRETEND PLAY BLOG, that I said it was very important to get as much of the supplies needed as possible to make the area feel super fun. However if you dont have the supplies meant for it, improvise.

The printable first off are super cute. If you didn’t get the membership, I would. Its cheaper than just buying them from Teacherspayteachers or from her separately. 5.00 for each lesson grouping or each printable. For every week of the year it will add up to over 200 dollars or more. If you buy the membership at 70.00 for a year, its such a savings.
As far as Pretend clothes go, I have found over the last few months at HOMEGOODS, TARGET, BURLINGTON, etc, some of MELISSA AND DOUGS doctor sets. They are full price about 25.00 a set, but if you go to homegoods, or Burlington, or any second hand store, you might find them for cheaper. Especially now during Halloween season. Doctor costumes and shirts. If it is still too much for you, just go to GOODWILL or even your hubbies closet and pull down his old WHITE SHIRTS, and let the kids turn them into lab coats. Put name tags on them.
As far as doctor kits go, Stethoscopes, pretend shots, or thermometers, try Goodwill again, or KidtoKid, or even the dollar stores. See if they have it in any of the dress up stuff, and just bleach it. Amazon has some great cute little doctor kits for cheap. If you don’t mind investing in a doctor play set it will go a long way because my kids love them. My daughter loves playing the pediatrician to her baby dolls all the time, and my son loves hearing my heart with the stethoscope.
Another cool thing to do is set up a clear storage box, ( I have yet to do this yet) put battery Christmas lights inside it and it can become the x-ray light box. Just print off pretend play x-rays, and they will light up. You can also make it for your magnetic blocks.

Plus add some baby dolls or even teddy bears and your ready to go.
For the actual lessons;
Language / Vocabulary Words; The parts of the body, the important bones, the doctors instruments.

Math; counting fingers and toes, matching xrays to the body part.

Science; the 5 senses and using them in the classroom to find things. This is going to be my favorite. I plan on blindfolding them to see if they can smell the food i provide them, and also to touch and feel their favorite toys.

Art; Their is the big craft, which is your trace their body’s on roll paper and they fill in the spots with printable coloring pages. I did this in Kindergarten when I was my daughters age. Its called the body map.

Or you can do other smaller crafts. X-ray q-tip bones.

You can make your own little doctor kid.
Or their own Stethoscope.

The list goes on and on. Just search Doctor theme crafts for preschoolers.
Creative Play Area: Using Mr. Potato Head to help with the body parts. Kids love that.
GROSS MOTOR: EXERSISE. Do yoga, do dancing, do anything active to get their bodies going. EASY.
So wish me luck with my kiddos this week and I wish you luck with yours. Have fun.
