Today we had the good fortune of visiting our zoo. They reopened this week to members only and then reopen to the rest of the public this weekend.
The zoo opens at 7am and closes at 12 right now due to covid and heat. Plus members can get in an hour early. So 6 am.
The kids and I started our day by waking up at 630. There was no way I was getting me and the kids up early bough today get there at 6 am. So we prepared to go at 8. Which we got there at 830. Due to me pressing the sleep button again and to the kids refusing to get ready.
We arrived at three zoo to see not that many people there. 1/4 of the parking lot filled. Which was a good sign even for a Wednesday.
We got our and put on my mask , thinking it was outside , the kids would be fine. But they require everyone 3 and older to wear masks, only in areas that you close the gap of 10 feet.
Once we arrived in the gate ( by the way we have a Seasons pass, worth it) and wore our masks all the way to the giraffes.
Once we turned left towards the African trail there wasn’t another sole in sight. So we took off our masks.

We were free. And it was nice being back at our zoo. We got to the point at the beginning of the African trail where they have the Christmas Reindeer usually set up, and across the way was the Pride Sign , letting people know that’s where the new exhibits are going to go. Which makes sense since that space doesn’t get used at all. It’s open desert pretty much.

Now remember that the Phoenix zoo relays on donations to fund their zoo. It’s a non profit organization. So right now, the only thing left to help donate to is the African trail and it is at 76%.

I have said it before, if I had the money I would donate to it in a heartbeat. To see our lions, and hyenas get into a non 80s exhibit would be great.
It’s currently a dome and it’s so old school.

It’s round and they have like 50 feet of a giant hill and then drops towards the outer walls where the fence is.
If they reach their goal our lions will get a more modern type exhibit.

Something that was added to our zoo this fall season is the new RYDABLES thing. Think of those things you have at the mall but better.
Since it takes about an hour to get around the whole zoo ( on the track you have to stick to) it’s worth it. I plan on doing this the next time I go with my hubby. Each one with a kid. it’s cheaper than the cruise the zoo.
We went around and got to see some of our favorite animals.

I got to walk my normal work out trial. And when I say workout, I mean workout. There’s even a moms stroller group that uses the zoo to get a work out in. But I just used my membership and had it myself.
The Phoenix zoo is like one giant figure eight. The perfect workout.

However sometimes I would change it up and go to the kids trial instead of the Asian trail and then finish up the same. Course today we couldn’t do that cuz on the kids trail is a playground and other touch items. Not the best start for covid.
However it a couple of weeks, it might change.
I am excited to see how they will do zoo lights this year. And renewing memberships. I hope Cruise the Zoo becomes a zoo lights thing.
Good night works. Phoenix zoo we missed you. Glad your .
