A Family Command Center can go a long way to help you get Organized!!!

If you don’t know what a command center is yet ( since it’s all the latest rage with covid) let me break it down for you.

You pick a wall. In your house. It’s the biggest open wall in the whole house, apt, condo, ect. And you literally put up lots of things that will help the entire family work together to be in the same page.

Those items sometimes mostly include……

1. A whiteboard calendar or chalkboard calendar

2. A file rack somewhere to put bills and letters

3. Cork board to put reminders on.

4. Some sort of menu

And from there you can do whatever.

Some people add the following cuz they have so many kids….

5. A hook for each kids back pack, and a basket on top for their books.

6. A car keys hook of some kind.

7. Homework reminder board for each kid.

8. Chores list for each kid.

Now me personally, cuz my kids are preschool age, I have always done boards with just my husbands needs and mine.

My original board look liked this.

A little messy, but cute.

Now our calendar boss got bigger the following your and I redid my cork boards. Course let me tell you some of these prices I found in these colors, others I painted myself to match. Like the cork boards and the block chalk board.

A year later or two it looked like this.

Bigger white board and more cork boards. I also added little metal cups that I painted with chalk paint and dressed them with twine to add color.

The boards and pieces I found always at Hobby Lobby. They have a huge isle of command center stuff. Calendar boards, chalk board accent prices etc. they also have another isle of just cork board stuff. It is always fun to go there and see what is on sale to add to my collection.

It has helped me and my husband so much Over the years. He looks at it before he goes to work to remind him what is happens for the day and he also adds to it to remind me what’s on his schedule.

After the flood , a lot of pieces got wrecked and broken. I had repainted most of the pieces too to another color cuz I changed the colors of the apt. From mustard yellow and turquoise, to navy blue, grey, and pastel pink.

So of course I had to change a lot of the stuff i had.

This picture is before the flood about a year ago. Notice I painted my yellow rack to blue, and my magnet piece from yellow to blue and I painted over the inside design to grey. I took away the painted chalkboard and just got another cork board (far right) I also took off the yellow twine from the cups and just left them metal.

This is what it is right now.

Very plain I know. It’s mainly because my desk isn’t in the dining room anymore. But like I said, a lot of the pieces I had were broken during the move, or were just time to toss. This is all that is left.

I have plans for it. Mainly those pieces that have to die with farmhouse modern style. Here are some ideas I am looking to get

I guess only time will tell. I love a good command center. I think everyone should have one. So they entire family is on the same page. Don’t you?

Until next time.
