Update on this week on Apples: They kids loved the first couple of days playing with the pie stand, but it didn’t peak their interest after a day or two. With not that many kids and not that much room to completely remodel their play area like I used to, I understood. I used to take up half the classroom for their play area. However with the actual school being more important, I used up the rest of the space for their blackboard and numberblocks wall.
I am seriously thinking about fixing that issue, but I can’t think of an alternative. I will let you all know how it goes.
Moving on: This next week is Farm. Farm is another fun thing to do with kiddos, cuz it includes animals. Animals are always a fun subject for kids.
With Farm, kids learn about how farms work and how they provide food to the farmers market, and the crops plus meats they distribute.
Pretend play can be a multitude of ideas. You can play farm, chicken coupe, and farmers market with fruits and veggies. So many different ideas.
If you have stuffed animals that are farm animals that is the easiest way to go. Make a little pretend farm with cheap bails of hay. If you have baskets you can make a chicken coupe. You don’t need stuffed animal chickens, you can make them. If you remember that little art project we did as kids during thanksgiving you can make Paper Mache chickens.

You can even make them this weekend with the kids. These aren’t paper Mache. Its newspaper wrapped in a huge amount of tape, but it works.
With the farmers market, like my curriculum provides, I am just going to use the kids play food. Put into baskets and use the whole play pintables that they have. This will be my set up below.

With Language, its learning about baby animals and mommy animals. and also farm lingo. lol.
Math: I plan on using our cash registers with the kids, and learn how to ring up a customer with calling out numbers, and the difference between + and – and =. Also using NUMBERBLOCKS we are going to learn pairs. Because a lot of products and produce is sold in bunches or pairs. I think its too soon to learn dozen. I might bring it up, but we shall see.
Science we are going to learn about eggs, chickens, and also planting. The kids grandfather is planting a garden here soon. I was hoping to have him give us a little area to use for growing something for the FALL. PUMPKINS.
We shall see. Wish us luck.
I posted an update for this blog. Read next.
