Fire Safety: lesson plan for next week, but we aren’t doing it until after Fall Break. Just going to do the plans now!!!!!!

Fire safety is a very important subject for kids to learn, especially right now. In the fall is when we teach us, it’s cuz this is the time of the year for forest fires. And for stupid people who set things on accident.

Kids love fire fighters, and fire trucks.

First thing I will say, is even though I find my sons hero BLIPPI to be annoying , he has the best fire fighter stuff on his show. A song, and a whole episode about it.

Very helpful.

For pretend play, this is hard: I know of a Sandwich place that gives out free Fire Hats for the kids at their place: “ Fire House Subs,” if you ask they love giving out hats. You can use these. Another creative, low cost way, is take Plain Black Jackets and Neon Tape and make it into Pretend Fire Jacket.

This is what I plan on doing. Long sleeve too.

It’s cheaper than getting the fire fighter set from Melissa and Doug Costume Set. If you have one kiddo, or maybe two that will share, it’s worth it, but not in my case. Lol .

25.99 at target. Maybe 19.99 at Homegoods.

Other items for pretend play you can make on your own are as follows.

Using water bottles and soda bottles you can make tanks, and fire extinguishers. If you have any flash lights, you can add those. for the fire part, go to Costco or Sams Club, and get a sheet of cardboard. Paint it orange and red, and add tissue paper.

For outside and gross activities, give the kids the house and let them squirt pretend fires.

Or go to the dollar store, get a squirt gun, and set up cups, and have them knock them down.

Any idea will be fun. Just keep it SAFE NO REAL FIRE.

As far as the Circle time lesson goes, here is the vocabulary for the week.

This is from another program, not the one I have. Some other programs give you free things to use. Prekinders-wpenguin is where I get these.

Another Important thing to remember from this lesson, is perhaps teaching the kids about if a fire happens at home, what they should do.

This is my favorite one I found. And I will have my kiddos see where I want them to go to sit to be safe. Or even, since I live in an apt, go knock on our neighbors door for help. Our neighbor is awesome by the way.

You can do the same if you live in a condo or a house as well. Plus, it might be a good thing, if the kids know how to use the phone, to learn 911 as well.

A good fine motor skill to learn is the difference between hot and cold. And to sort the things that they know. DO NOT ACTUALLY TEST HOT THINGS. MAYBE WATER. But show the items at home that can get hot.

For math, we will be learning about odds and evens. Which by the way, is hard to explain to 4-5 year olds.

Number blocks has an episode, and YouTube as a bunch of others I can use too.

Well I think that’s everything. Have fun planning. Let me know how your week turns out. Again. We aren’t doing it next week, because it’s fall break.

Well be doing it the following week.
