When your a preschool teacher, your lesson plans grow each year with each subject. However you have to stick to the curriculum that the state standards put out.
when I was working for the district , in the Early Learning rooms, we stuck to the lesson plans they gave us too. It was a set of 4 binders that had themes for the months in each one. We had to pick from them and not deviate.
Course when I moved to the older kids and the school age ones, I could do whatever theme I wanted. Didn’t have to do scarecrows just cuz it was fall. I could do super hero’s if I wanted to.
Entering into fall, and teaching preschool from home I have choices to make. Should I change out a few, or stay on course.
I think I have mentioned this before , but it’s on my mind right now with fall break. I am going through the themes, and thinking of changing a few.
I will keep to my October Schedule that I listed before , but I might change November up.
Some of the themes are not really the best themes.
Here are the themes PreKprintable fun has for November.

First week of November is SPIDERS. I HATE SPIDERS. Lol . So I will definitely change that. She has insects for the spring, so I will add spiders to that. So for this week I am might change it. Not sure what to yet. I might put together a couple of ideas and ask the kids which one they want to do.
That’s always an idea. Ask your kids to help decide what themes they like.
Second week is leaves and trees, and that’s a cute theme that is mainly about the seasons changing. You don’t even have to call it that. You can call it “Changing of the Seasons,” “Fall is Here, Winter is Near,” etc. lots of cool science and nature walks for this week. I might keep it.

The Third Week is Squirrels and Acorns. Normally I would call this week something else. “Let’s Get Ready to Hibernate,” “ Prepare for Winter.” Etc. But it’s another good theme to do this month, cuz learning about Hibernating is very important. I’m going to need the them for this week too.

Forth week is easy, and yes thanksgiving is always a fun one to do, cuz the kids do a lot of fun things for this theme. At school ( the local public school) they do a Turkey Trot for PE. Preschools participate. It’s just a running thing ( like cross country) marathon exercise. Kids and their Parents go for a run around the school grounds , and have a party after. I’ll keep this theme.

Fifth and final week of November is Winter Clothes. Now, I don’t plan on doing this theme either. Why? I will add this stuff to the Winter themes in January or I can even add it to the Hibernate theme, cuz that’s how we keep warm in winter. Since it’s the almost December, and in December it’s all about Christmas to our curriculum, I might add something fun.
I am going to loom up themes tonight and maybe report tomorrow which ones I choose from.
