So I said last week that this week would be the fire safety and then next week will be the pumpkin theme and the scarecrow theme.
Well I am going to skip the scarecrow theme all together. The pumpkin theme that was technically this week, has plenty to do for the week before Halloween.
For the pretend play are I have already put it together.
I will be posting this info in another blog, but I took apart the stand I made from the IKEA kids shelf, and turned it into something else.
I moved the kids toys into one place in the classroom. I will rotate the toys from this shelf monthly or weekly. Haven’t decided yet.

I’m excited for this weeks theme, cuz the math and science are the same. Using real pumpkins the kids will open the pumpkins and discover what’s inside.

With science you discover the sizing of the pumpkin. The outside and inside. never hurts to do it to a song.

Plus with math you can take out all the seeds and count them.

For English, you can even have the kids spell out their names in seeds.

With art, my favorite craft is the paper bag pumpkin.

Another thing you can do is marble painting with orange paint.
I used to love marble painting as a kid.
Pumpkins isn’t just a preschool theme. You can do this with your whole family, and even make it Part of a costume party. It’s fun activities to do , no matter what your age.
When all things are said and done, I am going to have the kids help clean the seeds, and prepare them to make pumpkin seeds snack.
It takes a while to clean and cook seeds. Our family recipe has us soak them over night in salt water before cooking them.

I love our family recipe. Easy enough and not a secret.
Just clean them well under water. Soak them overnight, or a few hours ( if your doing it early in the day) in salt water. Then spread them on a cooking sheet, add more salt to them and put them in the over 350’ until light brown. Take them out, move them around a little and then stick them back in. So both sides are light brown.
Easy enough.
We’ll have a great weekend everyone. I hope next week is as great as I remember. Teacher memories. Lol
