So many exciting things happened on school day. We did everything I planned on and it was thanks to Prekprintable fun that I had a basis for my plan.
First on the agenda was to see if our pumpkins sank or float. My students ( my son, daughter, and friends boy) all said it would sink. Normal hypothesis for 4 and 5 year old cuz they are HEAVY. But we found out they floated.
Next up we measured and weighed them. Another shocker. Their pumpkins were practically the same .
Finally we opened them and counted / cleaned the seeds. Funny enough. The kids guessed too small. Each had about 400 – 500 seeds. I had a very special helper with me today, who helped them with their counting.
We cleaned the seeds and then baked them. Turned out perfect. And out of all three kiddos exactly non of them touched the inside guys at all with their hands. Me and my helper did all the work. “That looks gross, no way I’m sticking my hand in there.”
We finished our time with painting brown paper bags to look like pumpkins. So far this has been by far the best lesson of the year so far. I am going to have to figure out a way to make Monday’s just as fun with the rest of the lessons.
