The Focus WALL!!!

I think I have mentioned this a few times. A friend of mine that is doing preschool for her son while he is at home, she has made him a focus wall. Its simple and easy, and if your not doing intense learning like I am with my kiddos, this is the best place to start.

Wow it has been a while since I have talked about a FOCUS BOARD. This picture is months old. This is what my friend did for her son. She went and got a cork board, and then to the DOLLAR TREE. She got cute boarders and letters. Plus she bought educational note cards to help her son understand what each focus should be. Now what I love about what she is doing is when it comes to numbers, she is making sure her son knows what each number means. The symbol of 1, the word of one, and how many one is. Now you can go further than that . You can add a picture of a hand with the sign language of that number. Now this chart below is a whole number focus wall. I plan on making this on my number wall after the new year, So the kids learn these skills as well as memorizing the symbols of the number and counting.

My focus board will look a little more like this. FOR NOW.

Now here is a little note for all of you. You can easily go onto publisher and make your own stuff. Course if you want a pretty put together set for you, then you can go onto prekprintablefuns website and buy the kit you want, or go onto teacherspayteachers and do the same. That is if you didnt buy the year membership like we did.

Course I will tell you time and time again, to pay the 70 something dollars for the year membership for the preschool curriculum your going to use at home. It is way cheaper than going onto TEACHERS PAY TEACHERS website or any of these preschool curriculum’s websites and paying per lesson plan. I did the math. Each kit costs between 3-6 dollars or more and if you keep buy those kits every week for the whole year, you are going to spend 300 plus dollars vs 70. So be smart about it.

Now I can say with out a shadow of a doubt that the one I am using is amazing. She even has editable documents so you can make your own things for your matching walls.

I am using the stripe pattern to match my rainbow polka dot theme on my wall and to give a bit of a difference.

I just edited the titles page, and this is what I am going to use instead of the normal ones that they give you.

I wont be doing just one shape per week as you are supped to. I plan on doing a months worth of shapes, colors, and numbers. Reason being is I only have all three kiddos once a week. So I want to focus on the shapes for the entire month or season. Plus I put the Theme up and next weeks, so they can look at it and look forward to it. I used to do that in my classroom and also in my MPR so my parents and kids could see what they needed to be prepared for. Cuz a lot of kids only came certain days of the week. If they wanted to attend an event, they could switch the days.

Anyways, I also have holidays. I love knowing what holidays are that month.

I am always changing things on my walls, that way it isnt always the same and that the kids minds are taking in new information.

Like I said before. i plan on changing my numberblock wall into a counting focus wall. Learning the different ways to show a number. For now my focus is for my preschoolers to count to 30 and also by tens to 100. They are getting their.

Focus walls are very important to a preschooler. Even if you have a 2 or fresh 3 it doesn’t hurt to have one of these, they will love learning. Make it fun.

GOOD LUCK>
