As I plan for Christmas for my children, I am once again looking at Jack for boys in the Pretend play area.
If you haven’t read my other blog: Boys Get Jack. Go find it. I have not yet mastered this blogging program to where I can insert links. If you know how to do that, let me know, cuz I am going crazy.
Simply: My son is 3.5 years old and he loves everything his sister loves. Now he loves Dinosaurs, and Cars, which is the basis for his Christmas gifts this year, but he likes to play with his sisters pretend play things. Not costumes, but the items that come with it.
Such as; Purses, brushes, mirror, and yes the make up. So Last year for Christmas, I found the only place that sold a BOY PRETEND PLAY Shaving Kit. Lakeshore.
He loves it, and I personally made him a BOY vanity. Course once again, the term for a boy Vanity is called a VALET. Comes from a time of when men were dressed by their valets.
I made it look like Andy’s chest from toy story, because he loves those movies.
I made him this because of his jealousy of his sisters.
Jakks toys has this huge line of Disney princess pretend play stuff for girls. However they dont make a line for boys. Which I am still extremely annoyed over. Boys are just as important as girls in this department. I will keep shouting from the roof tops until someone hears me.
So for now I will keep finding ways to make it better for my son. So this year I want to add to it.
There is this cool styling kit from Fisher price.
There is this wood kit.
There are others, but they are so cheap they are not worth it.
So i guess well see which one I get. I just wish they still would make more for boys.
I have lots of ideas. I would very much like to work for a toy company to make it happen. What’s funny is that even the toys by Jakks are cheaply made in their own right. My daughter had every single piece of the Princess collection and nearly 60 percent of it has either been broken, lost, etc. So Maybe not with them. I love Melissa and Doug toys or Lakeshore toys. They make good quality stuff.
