1,2,3 MAGIC!!!! Will it work for us? Let’s See!!!!

Okay time to get a little on the serious side of things again. I have been seeing so much about kids going crazy at home, and their grades slipping. Definitely not the best year and we talked about that in one of my last posts a week ago.

Our house is not exception. This past year has been rough when it comes to behavior, and it’s been a struggle to find the right type of discipline or “behavior modification” as teachers would call it.

When Livi turned three and went into her first preschool experience we knew then that she had ADHD. I have it, was diagnosed at first grade. My impulse control was way off the charts and so with the rest of the kids of the late 80’s I was drugged to keep me under control. At 18 I took myself off my meds and tried living my life free of it. I have doing very well until lately.

My impulses have returned since having to deal with not just one but two kids who have it. I knew they would , cuz like I said I do.

I knew right away after an incident happened at her preschool. She saw a little girl in her class wearing a certain hat for pretend play, saw it, wanted it, and so she took it. The hat had a string, and so it when she grabbed at it, it yanked the girl. The girl was fine, but it meant that livi was going to have trouble thinking before she did anything.

It got worse as she turned 4 and started the 4s class. Course it wasn’t all her fault. Her two teachers were incompetent older ladies who had 15 4 year olds in a small classroom. They had given me many warnings that I needed to do something, and all I wanted was for their suggestion and help. Finally they pulled my mother and me in for a meeting . When it came down to it, at the end of the meeting, I went straight into the office and removed her from the school.

They wanted her to get tested, but they didn’t conduct with IEPS, and so it would have been mute. Lol.

I took their little advice to get it official and it was. She has ADHD. apparently it’s all ADHD with kids, no more ADD, just the main Category of ADHD and thr they are within brackets of it. If that makes sense.

So my daughter has type 2. With that she can get tested where she goes to school and they would give her and IEP. I know I have gone over this before. But to recap. If you think your child is delayed or has behavior problems, always get them tested, and therefore they can get the help they need.

Back to 123 Magic. It’s a type of behavior modification for kids who have ADHD. It’s been proven to be most effective, if the parent sticks to it.

We tried it out when Livi was 4 and Will was 2. It didn’t go great ( cuz they were practically babies) even a year and a half ago. So we drifted from it. More like drifted far from it.

We are fully to blame. But after today, it’s time to get back on it.

123 in simplest idea is to help get your child listening to direction and think before they act with easy steps and reactions to their actions.

You want them to get to stopping after you ask them to, but if not at least by 1.

Yes Time Out. Not many parents believe it in, but we do. This will work this time.

I HOPE AND WISH US LUCK.
