I have been so busy in my head lately that I have been completely forgetting to do certain blogs. I apologize to my readers.

So I am going to do two blogs in one. Hope that makes up for it.
So this week was Arctic Animals and igloos.

For this the print out had lots of fun stuff revolving around animals that live in there Poles. North and South Pole.
Anything to do with animas you have to think of Wild Kratts. So many episodes that help explain these amazing creatures.
Yesterday we watched the “Polar Bear and Walrus rescue episode “Polar Bears Don’t Dance”.

In it your kids will learn all about who could win in a fight. Walrus rules the water, while the polar bear rules on land.

Other episodes include: “ Mystery of the Two Horned Narwal”, “mystery’s of the North Pole” , “penguin Power” , ect. Lots of animals to choose from.
We began our day by playing and then we watched that episode and then when we went to calendar we talked about the new year.
What happens now that we are at the start of a new year, how much longer till the end of school, and the holidays coming up.
We did our folder games. They did a great job identifying their patterns, matching where the Arctic animals live ( water vs land) , and their letter sounds and names.

Then after that we moved onto our craft for the day.
The kids used sugar cubes and glue to make Igloos.

Now with this craft there is debate on what is better to use. Frosting or glue. Well for me I decided on glue, cuz frosting would have been a mess. I tested it. Sugar overload. No thank you.
Plus my kids learned how hard it is to make a home out of ice. If you don’t place the sugar cubes right, once they get to a certain height, they will fall.
One student piled them on top of each other, while another did every other cube. It was a great lesson.

My little extra student actually told me that he wanted to give up. That he didn’t want to do it anymore. I had to tell him that once he starts kinder next year he can’t say those things to his teacher. If he has homework or a project in class he HAS to do, he has to complete it.
I also informed my kiddos yesterday that as the months continue we will be spending more and more time at the desk to get used to it. That I know it’s going to get boring and they won’t like it but they will have to get used to it.
I hate being the person of bad news but it’s the truth. And I like telling them the truth.

As far as pretend play went yesterday it didn’t. I had no time and no place to get what I wanted .
The pretend play for this lesson was to turn their room into a research lab.

Have the kiddos put on their winter snow jackets and create a tent somewhere.

I just didn’t have the time to get this stuff. But I might do it next week for snow and snowmen.
I’m sorry once again for my delay. Just a lot going on.
