Thanks to Numberblocks I had the best resource at my fingertips to give the kids a great start to numbers and how they work.

A requirement these days for a kid to get into kinder is for them ……
1. Can count to 20 smoothly
2. Know the sounds of their ABC’s
3. Can take care of themselves in the bathroom and with putting on their shoes.
So when it comes to their math skills, my girl will be ahead of the game. She can define my count to 20 smoothly, and she can count to 100 when prompted to do so. Show her the number and she can recognize it. 1-100.
Even my son who is going to be 4 in April, can count to 20 and knows his BIG TEN numbers. 30,40,50 etc.

Now when it comes to counting it’s easy. And once again thanks to number blocks on Netflix my kids also know how to add. Only plus one for sure right now. I’m testing my daughter to see what she can figure out. So far plus one is easy. Tomorrow I’ll move on to plus 2.
Now the math pages I found for free have plus 0 on them. That through her for a loop.
So on Monday I think I will talk a little bit about 0. Use tools on the board. Explain what zero is a bit more. Number blocks has an episode about it, and maybe do a worksheet with zeros.
From there we will work on ones again and then move onto writing numbers.

Writing the alphabet and numbers is kinder work, but I want to keep my kids ahead of the game.
So lots of writing and I also have warned them we are going to spend more time at the table.
There’s literally a lot coming up, but my kids are right on track with math and so smart.
Wish us luck.
Lauren,
I love that you challenge your kids to reach their highest potential. Sometimes I think the system doesn’t give kids enough credit in their abilities to reach higher standards. Raise the bar and they strive to reach it. Your belief in them creates belief in themselves 😃.your doing a great job as teacher and as MOM 🥰.
