I woke this morning with a huge headache and felt like it would be a bad day to teach kids about winter sports and not about this amazing man.
So I called my extra student and canceled school today. Every kid who is in school has today off.
Now this morning I told my kids about Martin, and what he did for mankind. Of course they don’t get it, and won’t understand it until they are older. And I don’t want them to.
I want them to grow up without the thought of racism. Hate is ugly, and they need to learn to love everyone.
The truth of it is I didn’t know about the past until I was in 4th grade. Even then I was sickened and heartbroken about what humanity used to do to other who were different. What they sometimes still do.

Maybe it’s because I was raised by hippies, but I believe in it. Peace and love.
When I was growing up my best friend was Black. Lordy I hate saying that word. He was my friend, I just thought he was darker skin toned. Still do.
Course this was late 80’s and early 90’s. Not long after everything. I still can’t believe in it all.
So I will raise my kids the same way. Everyone is beauty, and every human being should be equal.
So happy birthday MLK and thank you for what you did for the world I grew up in.
