Next Week : Saint Patrick’s Day!!!!

Saint Patrick’s day is a big day in Ireland. Here is the short version of the history.

“Saint Patrick’s Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick, is a cultural and religious celebration held on 17 March, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland.”

The kids version is: “Patrick chased all the snakes out of Ireland.”

Another fun fact about Ireland is its where the Fairies and Leprechauns live. Because Green is also the color that mythical fairies called leprechauns like to dress in—today, at least. But tales about leprechauns date back to before green was in: The fairies were first described as wearing red.

Fun Traditions happen all around the world. Even here. Chicago especially. It dies the rivers green in honor of the immigrants that moved there.

Another American tradition ( for grown ups) is drink Green Beer and eat Corned Beef and Cabbage on the day.

As far as the a Preschool environment goes, it gets really fun.

For Math it brings me back to Money Math.

The kids will doing Money Measuring. It isn’t learning how to add money, that is more advanced than you can think of. What Money Measuring is, is to understand what each piece of money looks like and they understand the value of each piece. A quarter is bigger than a dime. And so on and so forth.

Start by adding a quarter cup of white vinegar, or lemon juice, into a cup or glass. Mix a teaspoon of salt into the liquid by stirring until it is dissolved. Place your pennies at the bottom of the cup or glass so that they are not stacked on top of each other. Wait about five minutes and check your pennies.

Crafts are pretty fun too.
