Classroom Themes!!!! The best ones that make your year awesome!!!!

The theme is the thing!!!!

When a teacher plans a theme for their classroom, they go out and find the latest idea.

This year for us, I chose Woodland Friends and Camping through the year. Now I am still working on the title.

Theme 1: camping through the year.

But if I had a classroom it would be my whole decoration though out the classroom. From the jobs, weather, alphabet, reading corner, etc. Herr are some pictures of other teachers who have used this theme.

Personally I think I’d like to add this thing to my kids room. It would be there job and chore chart. Since we all have to pitch in!!!! Lol.

Now when a teacher has a theme, like I did, I used it to plan my themes for each month, and when the season change, the backgrounds on my area and parent space would change.

THEME 2: Travel Theme Room

When I was doing a whole year about Around the World Theme, I turned my classroom into an airport, and the kids would put their backpacks in the luggage departure area. The different centers would be different terminals, and the Arrivals area was where I took attendance. my favorite was one of my boards, it looked like this on my wall ( wish I could have kept pictures) but it was a departures snd arrivals board, that had the upcoming events on it.

For the lesson plans, we would travel the world. I think I have mentioned this. Each month was a different country, and each week would be a theme that had to do with that country. Example: Australia- Week 1: Reptiles ( because they have a lot) Week 2: Outback Animals, Week 3: Beach , due to their surfers, Week 4: Ocean: because of the Great Barrier Reef. See my point. It’s easy if you really think about it.

Theme 3: The Alphabet Year

One year I decorated each room I had, in a different theme of the three first letters of the alphabet. And through the year each week was a theme that started with the letter that came next. A= Animals, B= Bugs, C= circus, etc etc. The kids were so spread out into rooms so each assistant teacher to me had to pick out what kind of jobs they wanted and what rewards the would do.

Room 1= the multipurpose room was APPLES. I turned my parent greeting area into a picnic table and my boards all had apple stuff on them. Here is an example.

Room 2: the kinder -1 grade room was Busy Bees. All the decoration in there had to do with bees.

Room 3= 4th-5th Graders Room was Cars the only thing was the kids area was a room that was used for the MPRs tables and they could only be in there for a short while until it was time to start breaking down the stuff once it got closer to closing. But if they had their own room I would have done this to their desks or tables

Theme 4: Racing to Success

Now cars is a good theme. Or racing is. For my first summer ever teaching kids in a summer program, I turned my room into a racing room.

I actually do have those photos somewhere. But the in classroom stuff was pretty cool. For the job chart I had trophies on the wall for each kids job. For the rewards chart, I had a race track on my wall and every kid had a car, when they did something good they got to move their car up a line, and if they did something bad, they had to go back. Each time they crossed the finish line they got a toy out of the prize box. I can’t find the photos yet so I am giving you this example.

With all the themes out there, you can create your room into something spectacular, and plan your year around it.

So many idea. Now do I want to make these for my future shop. Possibly. Just wanted to give my favorite readers a few of my ideas.

Have fun!!!!
