Next Week: Castles and Dungeons

This past week we have not done one single thing to play Wild West with the kids. We got a little side tracked when my new nephew was born early.

With only two weeks left of summer, before my kiddos officially start school at the public school close by, I am going to try to get on it and have fun these last couple of weeks.

First up is Castles and Dungeons: Kings and Queens: Knights and Princesses: Dragons & Wizards: etc, take your pick.

With my daughters birthday party next week, i thought this would be a fun theme to do. She loves wearing her dress up clothes and so, that will be what i am putting out for her and her brother to play with. hell of course wear his costumes, but there is cheap costumes out there if you want to make this area more fun for your kiddos.

Pretend Play 1 Idea: Dress up

Pretend Play 2 Idea: Castle of Boxes: Get as many boxes as you can and create a castle out of them.

Pretend Play 3 Idea: A wizards lair: get cheap halloween stuff out and create a witch or wizard area for them to make their own spells and potions.

Blocks Center: Learn about building bridges and castles. Talk about why somethings stay up and why some fall apart without stability. We did something similar when we learned about Jack and the Beanstalk. You can use this fairy tale again, and use the plastic cups as well.

Outside Play: Sand Castles competition

Crafts: Make magic wands out of chop sticks or popsicle sticks. And there is also the famous paper plate crown.
