We did it!!!! We met the kiddos teachers and we are so looking forward to the school year.
School begins in two days and I can’t wait.
Livis teacher has been teaching for years and it seems like a really cool simple environment for her and we hope works out well with her iep.
As a reminder, an IEP is a piece of paper. A contract from the school that informs the teacher of your students needs. Doesn’t have to mean they are in Special Ed but it just makes sure your child is getting the things they need in order to succeed.
My son had a speech delay so he’ll have an iep to help him with that, and make sure he grows with his speech. The teacher knows of his delay and he’ll get a speech therapy in his room and extra assistance and patients when doing work.
My daughter had ADHD, so her attention span is shorter than normal snd she also is very impulsive and has frustration flip outs. So her teacher should be able to learn to correct it with helping my daughter throughout the day.
As far as homeschooling goes, I am going to be doing a little schedule at home during the morning with my son, but only in circle time and math. His reading will be conducted by his grandmother , just like she did with Livi. I informed his teacher of this, and she’s excited for him.
Tonight I have to compose an email to Livis teacher about her, just to give her an idea of Livi, that is not in her iep. Plus any helpful information about her subject knowledge. Livi is very smart in math and in reading. She knows how to do more than most of her classmates, so hopefully the teacher can adjust to make sure she isn’t bored.
I will be doing lessons at home with him as I said, but not thematic units anymore. I need to follow the work he’ll be doing in school, and not get him mixed up with her stuff.
So this isn’t goodbye my friends of my world, but I am not going to be doing weekly posts anymore, and such. If you are doing home preschool, just do last year all over again, or get a membership to a preschool program and follow along.
I highly recommend Prekpages or Prekprintablefun. They are both affordable and awesome tools.
Happy school year 21-22
