TAWL Mom in California. Lack of Social Distancing People!!!!!! BAY VS. BEACH!!!

Sorry I haven’t posted a whole lot in the last week. Being fall break and all, we took a little vacation. I never post anything about being on vacation and where we are at the exact time we are there. Safety reasons, you understand.

We got invited by my parents to have a family vacation this fall break in SAN DIEGO. As a child, we went there a lot. Spent 2-3 weeks, with 4 other families in one house, and it was heaven. We took our kids there last year and they loved it. This year my parents wanted to go, so we went.

HOLY MOLY, SOCIAL DISTANCING IS BAD THERE!

We rented a house on the north side of Belmont Park and on the bay side. Now the thing I love about San Diego is the bays. When you have toddlers, waves and currents are scary. My kids are still learning to swim, so they have to wear their floaties the entire time on the beach. The bay, I dont have to worry about them being taken away by the current or undertow, I can just sit and relax while they play in the sand and then go swim or semi swim in the bay.

So the bay side is definitely my favorite. We practically lived at the bay the whole time. Only spent two days at the beach side. My In laws let us barrow one of the paddle boards, and we all had a great time with it. Even my sister and my brother in law, had a fun time learning how to paddle board. The kids of course, having been on the paddle board a lot at the lake, enjoyed it in the bay as well. Course me and my husband did all the paddling, while they just road in front.

Now with covid it was very different than last year. People wearing masks on the boardwalk, and at public places of business. Plus the Belmont Park that the kids love so much, most of the rides are not available to ride and limited hours. Which is sad. They wanted to ride the race car ride, but it was closed.

The kids were grateful though they didn’t have to wear masks on the beach while we were there.

We did get to go to the tide pools in La Jolla , that was fun. just a lot of people not really social distancing. They would come up close to us. Same too on the beach.

My kids had fun playing with each other, but there were other kids on the beach that wanted to play with them, and our giant cool holes and kites. It was weird that their parents weren’t keeping a great eye on them, and not social distancing. A parent with her 3 year old just came right up to us, and we must have said 5 time, we are SoCal distancing before she got the hint and took her son away.

We kept to ourselves and still had a great time. We stay with a 710 property, and highly recommend them. They keep their properties well managed. We loved our house.

Until next year San Diego.
