So next week we are doing Winter Sports instead of Penguins. Reason? Cuz a whole week on penguins isn’t that much fun to MY PRESCHOOLERS. Now Penguins is a very fun theme. If you choose to go forward with it, here are a couple of suggestions.
Lots of cool Penguin movies ( Happy Feet 1 &2) to name a couple. Plus The March of the penguins is a great documentary for it.
Okay now onto Sports. Whenever I was teaching it to my school age kids or middle schoolers we would use the Winter Olympics as a cool theme to bring up Winter Sports. Course most of my kiddos were snowboarding and playing hockey, so the loved learning the history of their sports, or even playing Multi Purpose Room versions of them. LOL.
With Preschoolers and with such a limited amount of room to play, I have to pick the perfect couple of sports we can play together on Monday that wont break anything. YEAH RIGHT!!!!!

Simplest solution is ice skating.
Use a shower curtain or laminated butcher paper. Then place it on the floor with tape. Have the kids only wear their socks on it and make sure it’s big enough for all of the kids to play on.
I found another website that has a downloadable Ice Rink Pretend Play printable’s.
It’s 6 Bucks on Teachers Pay Teachers, so I am going to make own.
For the printable I have found various free thugs from teachers pay teachers.
Another pretend play is a Popsicle stand or Ice Cream Stand. Something cold for kids to play with pretend things.
Anyways. Easy theme. Have fun with it. Have a good weekend.
