No other words to describe how today went.
We started off the day with just going over the normal calendar. Talked about February and it’s upcoming holidays. Totally forgot tomorrow was Groundhog Day, but it’s okay.
I can talk about that tomorrow after we find out if what’s his name sees his shadow or not.
Anyways. The next session of lesson……
Okay quick back information. Because my kids have only a 10-12 min attention span ( my two five year old students anyways, my three year old only has 5-8) so I do sessions of lessons during the day. Our day starts around 830 and they play until 9. Then they do calendar. Then they go and play for 10 minutes, and then do another session ( usually theme related) and thus session lasts the longest. 15-20 and it includes a YouTube video of a book about the subject or someone who has a cute video on the subject. In today’s case we watched two.
We watched the video reading of “to the post office with mama” and then we watched “Mayta the Brown Bear” which is a you tube kids show talk about sending a letter.
The kids were so exited today to do this. Cuz even though I said in the last intro post I wouldn’t be able to take them across the street, I did anyways.
Actually it was perfect timing for all of it.

The older kiddos wrote a letter ( drew a picture) and then we put them in envelopes. I wrote the address and the people the kids wanted to send them to. They put on their stamps. I put a return sticker on. Then we went to do 3 things in a row.
We went to our mail room to pick up a package. The. Went across the street to the post office to mail our letters and a package I needed to send.
They loved this the most.
I took them back across the street to show them our normal mail box and while we showed up the mail person was there doing the mail.
Now we stayed across the street to watch her cuz of covid and because I told the kids that we aren’t allowed to be around the mail. It’s against the law to see other people’s mail , so the only person who can see it is a post person.
We thanked her anyways for letting us watch from afar and left to go back inside.
The rest of the morning ( we do class from 830-1130) we did our one to one packets for math and talked about the Teen Numbers a little more in depth
My kiddos wondered why they are called that and that we have to read it fourteen and not ten four. Cuz we read all the other numbers of the world left to right . 20-1 is 21 and twenty one. Then why do we say 14 like fourteen instead of the other way. If you catch my meaning. Lol.
Anyways , we had a great day.
Next week: Valentine’s Day!!!
